I am trying the new FT that come with vSphere 6.0 cause I really need the feature for a CPU intensive server that I can't cluster, but all my tries are useless as the new FT is actually slow it down no matter how many vCPU.
Tried so far from 1vCPU to 4 vCPU, same or different datastore for the secondary VM and have 2 dedicated 1GB cards in a DVS with LACP and the log doesn't exceed the 100Mbs.

i am trying to activate a windows vm using the invoke vmscript powercli command
cmd /c slmgr / ato works fine when i run it from a dos command but when i call this via a script then the script just hangs
I have also tried to put the command above in a batch file locally on the system and just use invoke vmscript to run the batch file but that just hangs also
any idea what i am missing ?

We have a new View 6.1 environment up and everything works perfectly except when conecting via Blast. On our internal Connection Servers the only way that I can successfully connect via Blast through a HTML 5 browser is by having the "Use Secure Tunnel connection to machine" and "Use Blast Secure Gateway for HTML access to machine" checkboxes checked. When I uncheck them I receive the following error when attempting to connect to a pool:
Your desktop has been disconnected.
Attempting to reconnect to desktop...
Your desktop may have an untrusted security certificate. Click here to accept the security certificate, then try connecting to your desktop again.
Looking at the Connection Server debug log I see the following errors:
startSession failed, protocol error PROTOCOL_ERR_FAILURE
Error_Event:[BROKER_POOL_PROTOCOL_UNAVAILABLE] "Unable to launch from Pool ****** for user ******: There were no machines available that reported protocol [BLAST] as ready": ProtocolId=[BLAST], SessionType=DESKTOP, Module=Broker, UserDisplayName=*******
User ****** could not be connected to existing session for launch item ******* does not support protocols [BLAST]: The requested protocol is unavailable at this time
Application launch failed, exception was: The display protocol for this desktop is currently not available. [NAME=BLAST, ERROR-CODE=PROTOCOL_ERR_FAILURE]
The "VMware Blast" service is running within the VM's in the pool and when I check those two boxes within the Connection Server configuration I'm able to successfully connect via the Blast protocol.
Anyone have any thoughts?
Does anyone know when there will be a release of a vSphere 6 with the IBM customizations? The IBM website only goes up to ESXi 5.5 U1

With Lenovo purchasing the IBM server line I am not sure where development on this stands. We are hoping to upgrade to vSphere 6 this summer and am hoping the customized version is released by July.
Has anybody seen this issue?
I added the VROPs server to the Tenant Machines as the metric provider. However, the badges do not show up.
I can see the metrics of the VRAC VMs on the VROPs gui. Weird.

I'm creating some simple reports from our vCAC 6.1 estate using PowerShell, I'm using `/catalog-service/api/consumer/resources/` to return the resource, from which I can get the machine name, disk space and memory; but I'd like to be able to list some of the information we're storing as custom attributes, for example vrm.DataCenter.Location. Is there a method for returning these properties using REST only (i.e., not the CloudClient)?

I've a Windows 2008 R2 virtual server running inside VMware ESXi 5.0. The server is also running Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2. Backups are being done by Acronis vmProtect 7.0.
I'm experiencing a problem where after a backup is completed by Acronis, all the clients that are connected to the database(s) on the SQL server lose their connections and require a restart. An example timeline goes as follows (all times taken from the "Recent Tasks" window in vSphere):
It is at the instant the snapshot removal completes (07:49:08) that the connection to the SQL server is momentarily lost (I'm going to call this a "hiccup" in the rest of this narrative).
I've a couple other Windows 2008 R2 virtual servers that are running SQL Server 2008 R2 that are being backed-up using the same Acronis application, but they don't experience any "hiccup". I've tried moving the virtual machine to a different host, I've tried changing the time that the backup runs and I've tried moving the virtual drives to a different datastore, but nothing made any difference.
The server in question is mission-critical - we're a Public Service Access Point (PSAP) and must be up 24/7/365. Having the emergency dispatch client lose its connection to the database in the middle of a 911 call is unacceptable - but it has happened.
Anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing the "hiccup"?

So several days ago I had a major San failure and lost half the volumes access wise. So my Esx hosts lost about 40 of their 80 volumes for several hours. These hosts also are connected to another San which was functioning properly.
The vms on the good San were working fine and the vms on the bad array but on the volumes that were still visible were working good too.
However all my hosts at this point were disconnectEd in vcenter. I could not connect directly to them with a thick client. Nor login directly from the console with f2 or altf1.
I am certain I was in an APD situation. However I was under the impression that after 140 seconds the hosts would flush the io and declsre th paths dead and move on. that appears not to happen So i must be misunderstood.
So now i question having multiple arrays attached because of you havr major issues with one array it appears you are pretty much dead until it's fixed, so you can't manage any vms or anything on the good array.
Am I misunderstanding thr APD behavior and the 140s timeout?
we are running v5.5 update2 and some other patches.
Where can i get the cheapest hardware to run esxi 6? Prefer not to build my own. maybe something with 8-12gb ram refurbished.

Is there any way to monitor whether a VM has been ( or is being ) migrated by DRS via a PowerShell script?
The reason I ask is that I would like to use the Automatic DRS facility within a cluster but have any movements monitored and the VM, its Source and its Destination reported or alerted upon. In this manner I could keep our company Configuration Database up to date and thus keep the pencil pushers off my back.
I appreciate it may be simpler to run a script on a regular basis rather than have it perpetually loop waiting for a migration and thus wasting resources.
I assume that the Recent Task list needs to be searched but if anyone has any brighter ideas I would be very appreciative.
Apologies if this has been asked before and already has an answer only I have Googled this request and have yet to find any pointers.

For some reason, these stupid hint balloons keep popping up when I'm in full screen mode. They either say "to release input, press ctrl-alt" or "To direct input to this virtual machine type ctrl-g".
I have "Enable All Hints" and "Show Enabled Hints" unchecked, and I have this line in my .VMX file :
hints.hideAll = "TRUE"
Could you please help me get rid of these popup balloons? They keep popping up and I can't make them stay away. It's really annoying. And looking back in the help forums, it looks like this has been a problem for years. What's the deal here?
Can someone advise why I might be getting the following error when deploying VIO? I have tried numerous times now but it always fails with Provisiong error and the VMs have a status of Bootstrap failed. When I logon to the mgmt server and look at the /var/log/jarvis/ansible.log I can see glance timesout waiting to start (see attached).

I am experiencing an issue, when I run get virtual machines by name, nothing is returned and it never ends. I have another script that is attempting to do:
VcPlugin.getAllClusterComputeResouces()
and this never ends either. I have successfully done it before but not it is not working, it is like something is wrong with the vCenter or something. If I log into the vCenter I can search and see all the cluster and virtual machines but I cannot query it in VCO.
Any insight on this would be helpful.

I am having issue with this workflow: Clone Windows withe single Nic and Credential. I have a Windows template that I am deploying from but after the deploy the IP address is never set on the new virtual machine. I was wondering what the configuration should be on the template so that the new IP is added correctly. There is a network adapter on the template and the IPv4 is set to DHCP. I have tried using a temporary IP for the template in hopes that the workflow would set the IP but that is not happening. Does anyone have any ideas on this?

While using the new vSphere 5.1 Web Client, I have got a vCenter 5.1 with Distributed Network Switches. I have enabled "VLAN and MTU health check" and "Teaming and failover health check". However, when looking at the "Status" columns, nearly all show a status of "Unknown" for all the Hosts. All my Hosts are vSphere 5.1.
I'd appreciate any advice.

I'm trying add a vcenter server instance on embeded vRO from vRA but the following error is returned:
Same thing happens when trying from vRO client:
BUT, two days ago (see green workflows) I was able to add the same vCenter using the same workflow configuration, including user credentials and was not changed.
Anyone have any tips of how to solve this problem ?

I have deployed the vwc plugin in VCenter 5.1 which is developed in SDK 5.5 & VCenter 5.5. It is deployed successfully but got the following error while loading.

I just found out that I cannot import any of my ovf images into Fusion. Very disappointing. It looks like there may have once been an ovftool binary for Mac users but I'm unable to find it anywhere. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the tool for OS X? I could always do the conversion on my linux workstation but I'd rather do most of my work on the Mac.
Will ovf import/export be built into Fusion in a future version? That sure would make things easier.
