Hello!

 

According to VMware® NSX for vSphere End-User Computing Design Guide 1.2

 

I wonder how Connection Server created on ComputeCluster and connected to tenant Logical Switch communicates with vCenter Server created on ManagementCluster and connected to VDS management portgroup. Do I have to create logical connection (routed) between tenant network and management network? Or maybe Connection Server should have two interfaces: 1 connected to tenant network and one connected to management network...?

 

Please tell me how you separate client traffic from management network.

Run Apps as an Admin

Hi,

 

How do I run an App as an Admin?

 

The App will not run through the client but when I try it locally on the RDS server (Run as admin) it works just fine.  I went into the properties of the executable and changed it to "Run this program as an admin" and that still hasn't helped.

 

Any ideas?

WS 12.5.9 has segfault (error 14) on host Linux 4.12.14 kernel

I've just upgraded to the 4.12.14 Linux kernel (openSuse 15.0) and am unable to start WS v12.5.9. The error message is,

 

     "vmware-modconfi[4626]: segfault at 7950 ip 0000000000007950sp 00007ffd7597ee08 error 14 in apploader[55798bc03000+ad000]"

 

Host processor is Intel Penryn 2.8ghz Core 2 Duo. Thanks in advance.

3d acceleration not working (Intel HD Graphics 530 & Ubuntu host)

Hello everyone,

 

I am running an Ubuntu 16.04.* server edition (without desktop) and VMware Workstation 12.5.7. But I do keep getting the message that "No 3D support is available from the host" when I start my Windows 10 guest. Graphical hardware is an Intel HD Graphics 530. 3d acceleration used to work on a Windows host, but now that I switched to Ubuntu as host I can't get it to work anymore. On the host I've tried several commands to see if 3d is indeed supported, see below:

 

lspci | grep VGA

Also the command "glxgears" shows the gears rotating without any problems. I have to mention that I use x11 over ssh to show apps that require a GUI. I've also tried using a desktop interface called XFCE4 in combination with xrdp (remote desktop tool), but this method also doesn't give me OpenGL 3.* support in the Windows 10 guest. Either way I am not using Unity.

 

Any ideas?

Can't access VCSA from web anymore, "connection refused". Strange errors when running "service-control --status --all"

Hello, this is the first forum post i have ever made in my life, but i really cant figure this one on my own. I would really appreciate the help, if someone knows how to!

I recently moved my 6.7 ESXi hosts and 6.7 vCenter server to a distributed switch. Everything seemed to go fine, I can still access my 3 hosts form web and i can ping everything (including VCSA). However, i can't access VCSA from web anymore, with Chrome i just get a message saying 10.69.51.100 refused to connect. Can't access it with any other browser either. I've tried rebooting my vCenter multiple times, didn't help at all. I also tried checking if all the services are up and running. However, then i get these strange errors i couldn't find pretty much any info about online:

Could these be a part of the problem? If i try to start all the services, it only starts the ones already running again, doesen't even try to start those others with the invalid name.

I haven't made any actual changes to vCenter configuration, other than moving it to a dswitch. Everything worked just fine before. Oh, and i'm just on a home lab, trying to work on my practical part of my thesis work. Does anyone know what's happening here? I'm happy to provide you with more information if needed/possible.

Hi Team,

 

View Horizon getting an ADAM database error,

 

We have 2 horizon administration console for a different domain but one of my horizon console getting an error like "Server error: ADAM 2,106"

 

1. We could not able to create any pools, recompose, entitlement...could not able to perform any option in that.

 

But I could able to connect the ADAM database from my VDi machine without any issue

Need Network Advise

Hello, I am trying to connect ESXi to my storage server "NAS4Free" over iSCSI connection. I have 4 gigabit nic ports on the storage server and 4 gigabit nic ports on the HP server (hosting the ESXi), and all 8 ports are connected to a central switch. I have finished the setup for the storage server side providing iSCSI over 4 IPs in 4 different subnets as recommended.

 

Now, on ESXi side, I am planning to host a pfSense virtual machine as firewall. Therefore, the network setup should have a WAN and a LAN interfaces. So I am not sure how many virtual switches and port groups should I add to ESXi to be able to satisfy the pfSense requirements of WAN and LAN and the 4 for the iSCSI.

 

Currently, I have the default vSwitch0 added and connected to vmnic0. I have added the remaining 3 vmnic1 to vmnic3.

 

I really appreciate your advises and thanks in advance.

VMvare Workstation 14 and 12: USB devices missing under VM -> Removable devices

Hey guys.

 

I used to run vmware workstation for connection usb devices into my virtual machines. This functionality stopped working a while ago, and now I started investigating.

 

OS is Win 10 x64, the USB devices are connected via usb 3.0 hub to a usb 3.0 port on the computer. The devices for passthrough are mixed usb 2 und 3, like a picoscope 3406D (usb 3), flash drive (usb 3), vector cancase and vn1611 (both usb 2).

 

All devices are connected to this externally powered hub. Funny thing is, at first a single usb device was still showing in the removeable devices tab, the picoscope. It disappeared while I was trying to get other devices to show up.

 

I reinstalled and repaired both workstation 12 and 14 from scratch, made sure the usb arbitration service was running (it always was), reinstalled usb 3 drivers, changed the vms' usb controller to usb 2 or 3, but it did not change a thing.

 

Another fun fact, I have a notebook with win 10 x64, and there usb passthough works like a charm.

 

How can I solve this?

vSphere 6.7 with TPM 1.2

Hey all,

 

With introduction of vSphere 6.7 as you all know VMware added TPM 2.0 support and states that all new security features use the 2.0 module.  I can't seem to find anything stating the features that aren't supported on the existing TPM 1.2 module.  I'd like to get an idea of how current implementations of TPM 1.2 would be impacted post upgrade or even fresh install to servers with TPM 1.2 modules.  mikefoley  I saw your blog post but is there another doc or post that goes deeper into this?  TIA everyone!

How to install Plug-in other than using Control Center?

I want to install plugin in vRO via Postman. Since in vRO 7.3 Basic Auth is disabled, I'm looking for alternatives to install plugins. I know we can use Swagger UI to install plugin. Is there any other way to do it.

 

I had read that we can do it via vRO CLI. How do install using CLI? I have not been able to find any documentation for this? Following is the right command for this right?

Iperf on fresh ESXi 6.7

Hi,

 

I've been working with a new server, learning ESXi.  My first build was ESXi 6.5.

It was simple:

cp /usr/lib/vmware/vsan/bin/iperf /usr/lib/vmware/vsan/bin/iperf.copy

/usr/lib/vmware/vsan/bin/iperf.copy -s -B [IPERF-SERVER-IP]

 

Then I upgraded to 6.7.  I did not try iperf again using this method.  So, unfortunately, I don't know if the 'upgrade' preserved this function from 6.5.

 

I recently formatted and did a fresh install from ESXi 6.7 ISO.  Now, I want to iperf again... there are no traces of iperf on a fresh ESXi 6.7 install (that I can find).  But, I'm a CLI noob for all things Unix/Linux/FreeBSD/etc...

 

I did find a directory /usr/lib/vmware/vsan/perfsvc

But, I have no idea what it means or how it might be leveraged.

 

Appreciate any help here.

mouse stops responding in workstation 14 player

I've been using vmware free workstation player without any issues for several years. Lately however the guest OS, ubuntu linux, stops responding to mouse clicks after the player has been running for a while. The vmware player responds - I can access all the player controls and use the power option to shut down or restart the guest, which is now what I do every time this happens. I'm running windows 10. Any ideas?

Programmatically adding Resource to EP Ops Adapter via Api

I'm trying without any success to add a ICMP resource to an EP Ops Adapter via suite API on vrops 6.7.

I'm not sure if it's possible but if anyone have an example it will be really appreciated

 

I get 2 different behaviour:

 

1- Trying to do a push to https://vrops/suite-api/api/adapters/uuidoftheadapters/ I get a 405 error

slow work with writable volume

Hello,

 

user that work with writable volume have a issues - explorer Between folders and User Folder is very slow!!

 

Agent and manager that we use-

 

Horizon 7.5

AppVol 2.14

uem 9.4

 

The problem was also in earlier versions of the Horizon ,appvol and uem.

 

OS -

 

Win10 - 1607,1703 -PRO    

Win8.1 - PRO

 

 

Does anyone have any idea what the problem is???

Please Help: LSI SIMS Provider doesn´t work anymore after Update ESXi 6.5 Build 7967591 to Update2 Build 8294253

Tried the update on two different Hosts:

Host01 with LSI 9260-8i (VMW-ESX-5.5.0-lsiprovider-500.04.V0.66-0002-5751577)

Host02 with LSI 9361-8i (VMW-ESX-6.0.0-lsiprovider-500.04.V0.69-0003-offline_bundle-7952656)

 

On both Hosts the Controller doesn’t appear in the Mega Raid Storage Manager anymore.

On Host03 with ESXi 6.5 Build 7967591 and LSI 9361-8i (VMW-ESX-6.0.0-lsiprovider-500.04.V0.69-0003-offline_bundle-7952656) the SIMS Provider works without any problems and i can get the Controller in the MSM.

 

Already tried to disable the Firewall on the both Hosts, to restart the CIM Server Service and different (older) SIMS Provider from LSI.

The DNS settings ( I modified the Hosts File on the Windows VM where MSM is installed) must be ok, because everything worked bevor the Update and still works on Host03 with  ESXi 6.5 Build 7967591

Any Idea?

NSX-T SR's but no DR's

Hi all,

 

 

I'm experimenting with NSX-T at the moment, and I'm having some issues with my T0 and T1 routers. This is NSX-T 2.2 running withing vCenter/ESXi 6.7

 

 

Background tasks completed:

 

  • NSX-T Manager and Controller deployed
  • ESXi hosts prepped
  • Two transport zones created - One for Overlay, one for VLAN
  • Edge device deployed
  • Edge cluster created
  • Transport nodes created for edge & esxi
  • edge device in both overlay and vlan transport zone
  • ESXi hosts only belonging to overlay transport zone
  • Two routers created
  • T0
  • Interface to logical switch in the VLAN transport zone
  • T1
  • Connected to T0 logical router, sharing routes
  • Attached a VM to overlay logical switch

 

Which basically looks like this:

Perhaps my interpretation is incorrect, but I would assume to have SR's and DR's for both T0 and T1. However, from the edge device:

This contradicts what's reported in the UI:

I would expect the transit switch/port information to be populated - can anyone clarify for me, please?

 

I have also noticed that even though my T1 router has a downlink interface to a overlay logical switch, and has a interface on that network, it is not advertising this network:

NSX DFW heap size issue

Hi all,

 

I have a issue with DFW heap size issue, NSX version is 6.2.3.

 

When I update the firewall rule set I will receive following error: Last publish operation failed on host *

VMkernal log shows “Heap vsip-rules already at its maximum size. Cannot expand”.

 

Any idea?
